A week or two before this little guy was born, his mom told me that she had made the mistake of looking at Christmas newborn photos on pinterest. He wasn’t due until the 5th of January, but when she went into labor on the 23rd of December, she was thrilled that she would get her Christmas photos! They are huge UT fans. They have a large photo of Neyland Stadium in their basement that covers almost the entire wall. When I did his sister’s newborn photos, we used an orange tutu and their favorite UT throw. Almost as soon as they found out they were having a boy, they began working on his room….with the UT football field painted on his wall. His first Christmas gift was this little Payton Manning doll. His mobile plays “Rocky Top” (which, of course, was purchased for their first child and has been passed down to all three of their children). So, naturally, we decided to do his newborn session at their home. Aren’t they fun? We had to do the session at their house so we could use their Christmas tree and decor, so the light wasn’t quite the same as my home studio. While we were at it, we snagged a few photos of the girls. My favorite is the one of them belting rocky top from memory with their dad.
Make sure to check out their dad’s artwork at http://www.tennesseeprints.com He’s work is one of a kind!

Last year, one of my friends gifted her sister-in-law a Denim and Lace Photography gift certificate for a newborn session. It was awesome. She lives in Knoxville, but drove up for her photos. And it was amazing. Her little baby was just darling and it was so fun to meet her and her other two daughters. This year, that same sister-in-law decided to do an extended family portrait session AND gift my friend a newborn session! (Which I’ll post about soon, because he was born just two days after we did this session here).
We were especially concerned about the weather because it was LATE December and all but one family was coming from out of town (one family even came from Kentucky). We had ONE day and ONE time that would work. And, thankfully, it did. We knocked this session out in about an hour.

Hard to believe this little guy is one already! He’s simply darling and I get to see him every Sunday at church. His mom made the backdrop for the cake smash and then she gave it to me when were were done 🙂 I adore it. It’s so fun! I think the colors are perfect for a little boy. It was actually freezing outside the day we did the cake smash, so we did family photos another day. He was such a little ham. I wanted to take him home with me. Check out the tractor they brought!Read More

This adorable baby’s mom is a good friend of little Mason’s mom, whose photos you can see here. She had been admiring Mason’s photos from Atlanta and when she was planning her visit to Kingsport for Christmas, she just knew she was going to include a morning with me! She even gave me the ultimate compliment when she said that she had been looking at photographers in Atlanta, but she just didn’t like them as much as she likes mine. We lucked out with completely awesome weather and I loved getting to know them!

This darling family moved to Kingsport a little over a year ago. Our girls really hit it off and have had a LOT of fun together. Sadly, mine started Kindergarten this year and their little girl isn’t quite as old as she is. They haven’t seen as much of each other as they would like. Anyway, I have really enjoyed getting to know the mother! I think she’s kind of fascinating. I was really excited when she asked me to photograph them (even if her husband didn’t seem to share the same excitement). By the time the session was over, though, I think I won him over. These kids were so adorable and so sweet. It wasn’t even hard to get those photos. At all. Seriously.

I can not even begin to describe to you how WONDERFUL this family is! I first met their mother at the park. I overheard her telling a friend about her photography business. She is Lauren from Captured by Clark photography. I quickly introduced myself and offered to be a second photographer for her at weddings. We’ve photographed 5 weddings together now and are getting ready for our 6th in March. She even brought her very fancy and very expensive lenses to this photo shoot and let me use them. I’m in love. Big time. This lens will be my next big purchase. I always rent this lens when I’m shooting a wedding by myself, but I think it’s time to buy it. Her husband is Dustin of Black Bag Doc. You should really check it out. It’s such a great concept. These kids were darling and were so nice to each other. It’s rare to get through an entire photo shoot without any arguing when there are four kids, so photographing them was a real treat!
